Break In Zine Works

You don't need the keys...

Zines Rule

We love zines. We love the immediacy, the intimacy and the wild possibilities they provide. Zines connect and they transmit - and we want to work with artists, zine makers and practitioners who are using the format to express their artistic voice, and connect with their communities. Whatever the subject, whatever the theme, whomever the audience, if your work comes from a place of emotional intent, is inclusive and open, then we'd love to hear about it.

Subliminal Soul: Chakra Reflections

Aaliyah Arshad

A Journey into Spiritual Reflection

The energy centres inside of you are the powers you have been given as a conscious creator on this earth. Each one serves a purpose, is connected to a different part of the earth, and uses different language and images to activate itself inside of you.

Subliminal Soul: Chakra Reflections is written and illustrated by Aaliyah Arshad, and produced by TheNeverPress. This 16 page zine is printed on 170gsm recycled paper (internal) with a premium 300gsm recycled cover. This beautifully put together title invites you on a spiritual journey of reflection and enlightenment.

Zine Collections

Collections and On-Going Series

We have a range of on-going zine collections coming up, each one created in house. However, we're not gatekeeping our ideas and these series and collections will always be open for contributors to submit their work and join the family

American Flora

Coming Soon
American Flora is a series of impressions of wildlife and nature, and their properties imagined. These botanical drawings are of plants that live, but have not been seen by the author, of places that exist but not yet visited. An ecosystem that’s part of the world but, as yet, unknown.

Each edition of American Flora focuses on one State, and contains 6 botanical drawings, with accompanying impressions of their properties. We're working our way through each State, with the intention of collaborating with botanical artists from all over the world to complete the collection.

American Flora is printed on heavy, recycled 170gsm paper, with a textured 300gsm cover from recycled stock.

This zine series will be open soon for submissions. Enquire below about entering your botanical artwork for an edition of American Flora.

PS - we love botanicals, so if you have a botanical art project outside the scope of American Flora, then please get in touch anyway and fill us in.

Bomb Zine

Coming Soon
Jean Biró and friends have put together this light, fun and off-beat zine series that talks about health, wellbeing and other assorted topics that seem to get bundled into the pick n mix of life. It's kind, it's upbeat and it can be weighty too.

BombZine is a 16 page zine, printed on recycled 170gsm paper with a heavier 300gsm cover.

We will be accepting submissions for full 16 page BombZine issues or pages, artworks and musings to put into compendium issues co-authored by yourself and Jean.

Hit the button below to talk to us about collaborating with Jean Biró on your BombZine issue.

Your Zine

Coming Soon
This is where you come in. What are you working on? What do you want to bring to us? We're open to your zine, whatever it may be about and whatever form it may take - from single editions, to ongoing series - as long as it fits in with what we're about, and it's from your mind and your hand then get in touch and let's scope it out.

FAQ about Break In Zine Works

Some questions below. If you can't find the answer to your question, just ask.

What Do You Make?

Typically, we're working in A5 and A6 stapled zines on a variety of stocks and weights, and between 12-28 pages. That's how we're set-up for a fast turnaround, but we're open to working to your idea and requirements. Just ask :-)

Financials

We're never going to ask you for money to submit, or produce work with us. We're the publisher and we will protect your voice, your work and cover production costs. This means we recover production costs from sales and a percentage after that goes to the press to keep the lights on. The rest is a royalty passed on to you, or to a charity that we can agree on.

Timelines

This is pretty fluid - Break In Zine Works is set up to be pretty fast, but we are a small team with a lot going on, so we cannot garunetee a timeframe. We work closely with all our artists in the atelier and collaborate at every step of the way and depending size and complexity, projects can take a few days or stretch on until the race is run. Short version - just ask!

These are ours, but they're yours too. Want to create an edition of American Flora? Or a collab with Jean Biró on a BombZine issue? We're up for it, so get in touch.
